When I first started reloading and powder was $6.00 a pound I used IMR 4064 and was very clean. Now I use mostly pulldown powder (surplus) .

I have been using AA2230C, and this seems to perform the same, and is no dirtier, than Lake City M855 and M193.

I don't really see much difference in powder cleanliness nowadays.

I typically use IMR 3031.

I really like Vihtavuori powder.

Its expensive but I have found it to burn cleaner than other powders I have tried in the past in my rifles. The side effect of its clean burning in my rifle is that it leaves minimal powder residue which makes cleaning my AR after shooting a 15-20 min chore start to finish even after extended range sessions of shooting up to 200 rounds between cleaning.

Once I started using  Vihtavuori powder I haven't felt the need to use or try anything else since.
