Some folks like them.....I personally prefer a collapsing, but when I build a varmiter it will have a straight stock.

I could install a folding stock on my AR but I'm keeping a Sully stock on my 16" AR. The Sully stock works very well with the more squared off stance taught by Pat Rogers and others, and it's still long enough to be useful in the prone. It's solid and helps the balance of the weapon, doesn't have any protruding edges, and works very well with a single point sling.
