Talking about AR-barrels, of course. I'm wondering if  anyone has actually worn out a non-match barrel to the point where it would no longer be considered 'combat accurate'. (Say, hitting a man-sized target out to a 500 meters repeatedly).

I hear a lot about barrel-life claims from various sources, but let's get some first-hand accounts!

I am absolutley not an expert on this, but would not the head space go out of spec before the lands would ware off?  Wouldn't the rifle become dangerous before it would become inaccurate?

I wore one out. It was a cheap non chrome-lined barrel to begin with. It was from the old NESARD days. I ran about 10,000 rounds through it and then the groups started to open badly. It would barely hold 10 inches.  I still have it stripped down to just the barrel. No idea what I am going to do with it.
