Good deal!

But I thought they would be selling mags for less that $20....

great!

Bushmaster has replaced Colt as the industry leader and as such they needed to make a statement that they intend to stay that way.

Offering these two new offerings helps but I think they should-and probably will- add more models.

Prices for mags and M4s, etc. will be a bit high for a while since there's a buying frenzy right now.  Wait until the the supply/demand cycle evens out and then we'll see mags near $10. <me hopes!>

Even though they haven't removed all of the references to pre/post-ban, ain't it grand to know you can ignore every damn one of them!!

I'm glad to see Bushmaster doing this.  They will definitely be seeing some of my money coming their way.  I wish Diane F. would go to Bushy's Site, she'd probably have a massive heart attack.

Too bad that they and many others are still using the "high capacity" lingo to describe standard capacity magazines.  I wish folks would stop using a terminology invented by the gun grabbers.  What if they restricted the mags to a 5-round capacity?  Are we going to start calling 10-rounders high capacity?

Because certain states still have bans, I think we're stuck with the pre/post monikers.  I was on Bushmaster's website yesterday and they had changed things up... when you order a "preban" upper it asks you what state you were from.  Previously there was a "These parts can only be installed on preban...yada, yada" window that you had to "OK" to close.

Some people contacted them yesterday and the people at Bushmaster thought the ban ended today at 12:01AM vs. what is on the ATF website, which shows 12:01AM on September 13, 2004.  Glad they are on board.

What's a "High-Cap" magazine?

I think that'd be something like a Beta C mag. that holds 100 rounds.  Standard Cap for an AR is 30 rounds and has been since about 1968, before that it was 20 rounds. Now there are  some "low cap" mags out there that only hold 5 or 10 rounds.

At the risk of sounding retarded, do both of these new offerings from Bushmaster have threaded barrels?  In other words, are the flash hiders removable?  Sorry--my only foray into the AR15 was with a neutered Bushmaster M4 I purchased new a couple of years ago.

As a followup, I guess, is the only difference between the A3 M4 and the A3 the barrel and flash hider?

Thanks for the help!

The M4 has a 14.5" M4 contour bbl with a Phantom that is permanantly attached.  The A3 carbine has a 16" bbl with an A2 FH.  I imagine that you can unscrew it on the carbine, with the M4 it has to be permanent so as not to be a short barreled rifle under the NFA.  Also, you CAN mount a bayonet on the M4, a standard milspec bayonet will NOT go on the carbine.

I think they are trying to sell all their 10+ year old mags off now... why buy a 10 year old mag when you can buy brand spankin' new ones?

For what it's worth, the black teflon coated mags with DPMS floorplates are my favs... I bought a few at $25 each a couple years ago and it's great to see them now for $15!

Got another question for the M4 experts.

Check out www.topglock.com/catalog/sunset2.htm. If you click on the See Rifle Details Here link, they list a few different M4 variants, and I'm trying to decide which one I want. The shorter barrel (14.5") has a permanent "Izzy Compensator" attached to it to make it the legal 16" length. Does anyone know if this acts as a flash hider or as a muzzle brake as the name implies? It looks like a flash hider, but it's called a compensator, so I'm confused.

If it is a muzzle brake, is it as loud as that hellacious mini-Y comp brake on their former post ban M4s? I would much prefer to have strictly a flash hider and not a compensator, so I think I'm leaning toward the full 16" threaded barrel. Thanks for the help.

So of those 2, which is the better buy? I at first was going with the M4, but reading your replay makes me think

Which is the better buy?  Neither at MSRP.  But it depends on what you really want.  I want a M4 that I can attach all the hooopla to, including a bayonet, so thats what I will get.  If you want a little more muzzle velocity, get the 16".

So does the "Bushmaster 16in M4 Type Rifle witth Izzy Flash Suppressor" really have a flash suppressor or is that a permanently installed Izzy muzzle brake and if so is it a loud brake?

Thanks for the flyer!  Very nice...

They dont have the M4A3 with the 16" barrel yet on the web site (bcwa3f 16m4).

Two Questions -

1. Anyone know when they will be shipping this model?
2. Does this gun have a threaded barrel?  I know the 14.5" does not, but it would be legal for this one to have it as far as I know...

I really want the threaded model!  Options baby...options....

IIRC the 14.5" bbl is still threaded, but has a flash suppressor or brake permanently attached over the threads.

The new 16" bushmaster carbine is awesome looking.  I don't know what it is about that picture, but I want one.  That smooth barrel with the flash suppressor.  I'm oddly aroused.  It's almost blue in color.  I bet they're selling a ton of them.  I wonder what's stamped on the receiver.

Why the HELL dont they have a listing for a standard 20" barrel with FS and bayo lug? Hell, even the entire upper, I could sell off the one I have already. Although I would REALLY prefer to have the muzzle brake and FSB removed and a FSB with bayo lug and FS installed in their place.

Bushmaster doesn't list all of their product on their webpage. If you call them you can get what you want.

That's the one I think I'm going to go with too. I like the idea of having a little more muzzle velocity as well as the ability to change what's on the end of the barrel if I want. Have you shot one with the shorter barrel and pinned brake/flash hider? I'm just curious to know if it handles much differently.
