I prefer the 14.5 myself. I have two, have previously owned 16 inch barrels, two of them.

I have both, while the 14.5 with perm flash hider looks better, the 16inch is better, when I shoot at steel plates at 200 yrds, the 14.5 does not hit it as hard as a 16 inch AR does. strangly a 15 inch with perm muzzle break HK33 hits as hard as the 16inch, I think because no gas is lost in cycling the weapon.

We are talking 2" of OAL here...

Go with the 16", and keep the versitility of different muzzle attachments...

Plus, 16" just works better...

More than 10K through my 14.5 and works just as good as a 16".If you use your AR for defense as well as target shooting then 14.5 is plenty of rifle 100 yds and under. It will shoot out to 450 yds no problem.Combat has shown that engagements take place well under 100 yds and more often under 50 and that statistic is true through the last 60 years, so 14.5 hits just as hard at rnges commonly encountered.

I really like the 14.5 with Phantom or Vortex.  16" is noticably longer and more front heavy.
