If I put a 6 pos stock and a pistol grip on the reciever does that count for being in Assult Weapon Config even though the fire control parts are not in???  

there is no assault weapons ban.  put that stock on right now!

Who knows what a future ban might say.  The ATF even had conflicitng interpretations of this last ban concerning what is and is not an AW.  For example:  A postban receiver with a collpasible stock and no upper would be considered an AW. However, a preban lower with just a collapsible stock and no upper would be considered no longer a preban if it was sold that way.  

Just assemble it as you get the parts.  I'm sure the members of this site will give you a heads up in the case of another ban.
