I know a local machinist that said he would take on the task of threading my barrel for flash suppressor after the ban sunsets. What kind of specs or instructions do I need to give him? I want to put a Vortex or Phantom on the barrel.

Threads must be concentric to the bore, you may decide to screw a real suppressor on there some day, and do not wish for baffle strikes to plague you.

Thread for 1/2-28 UNEF.  Go for approx .625" thread length, with a relief at the shoulder to threads.  Re-face end of barrel when done, as live center in muzzle will mash the rifling.
