Archived [ARCHIVED THREAD] - Bushmaster M4 barrel threaded?

Are the bushmaster M4 14.5" barrels with miny Y's threaded?  Picked one up from the EE and was wandering what was going to be involved in removing the mini Y and installing a vortex or something similar.

They're threaded with pinned and welded mini-y's on them.  See past recent discussions on how to remove them.

I'm actually going to try to modify the y-comp first to see if removing it is what I want to do.  Ie: connecting the 2 holes on the side to make like an AR type brake, or just grinding off the ramps that direct the blast backwards.
