Archived [ARCHIVED THREAD] - proper sling set-up for an XM177?

I just finished building an XM177 clone.

Now it comes time to put the correct sling on it. Keep in mind this is an A1 upper, A1 pistol grip, XM177 barrel, aluminum stock.

The aluminum stock does not have a lower sling swivel on it. It has the two slots at the top rear.

What is the correct sling for a Vietnam-era XM177, and how would it be installed?

I believe it would be the Olive Drab colored sling with the hook on one end and the adjustable loop.

That or just an OD web sling strung through the front sight assembly and then through the butstock.
