Hopefully this hasn't been beaten to death but does anyone have any pics of a 14.5 and 16 inch barrels side by side with a flash suppressor installed thanks alot everyone

I'd go with the 16" if your confused on what length to get.

I'd say that the difference is so subtle that you should go with 16".  Plus you get a non-permanent FH.  If you are going SBR or desperately want to use a bayonet (without an adapter) then go 14.5".

Doesn't getting a midlength 16" move the FSB out further so the bayonet lug is in the proper place?
16" helps avoid the problems of having to register a SBR (short barreled rifle.) Sure, you could pin the flash suppressor to achieve a 16+" barrel length, but you loose some flexability.

Not sure about the midlength gas system.  I know that I don't plan on changing around my flash hider once I get it on there, so perm attaching it to make legal length doesn't bother me.  14.5 is closer to what the military uses.  I don't think you gain alot of accuracy by adding 2 inches of barrel either.

But for me, I've ordered the 14.5 because I do desperately want to use a bayonet.  I've had nothing but post-bans since I bought my first AR, I've been waiting ten years (figuratively) to get my bayonet lug back from the govt. and now I want to USE it.  I want to hang a bayo off my AR15 because it pisses off liberals and tells everyone that the constitution is less infringed than it was when Clinton was in office.  So, yeah, call me weird, but my decision on barrel length is largely a political decision...

Pardon my igorance, as I've never installed a bayo (or handled one), but does the loop in the bayo go OVER or BEHIND the flashhider?  That is,  if you are going to PERMANENTLY attach the FH, do you have to put the bayo on first, or does it slip on and off atop the FH?

it goes over, if you had to remove the flash hider to put the bayonet that would be a bitch,...LOL I could see it now.."hold on Mr. terrorist let me unscrew my flashhider, put my bayonet on and then tighten it back down so I can kill you"
