LMT would be my choice for  just a lower

Just checked Gunbroker.com and they're are some RRA lowers FS. One is complete, going for 209$, and one is stripped, going for less.

Also considering 9mm as an alternative...

Just get some USGI and bushies should be no problem,  RRA makes a good lower

They're not USGI, but they're the next best thing-

Used Israeli mags! Don't fit bushmaster though. Honestly though, what makes USGI mags so special?

Ameetec Arms makes the nicest lowers I have seen to date- inexpensive, true to spec, and the nicest finish I have seen- better than RRA and Bushy.

I bought 6.

What kind of mags do you have?

If they won;t fit in a bushmaster receiver, chnaces are they are not good mags.

They're not bad mags, just pretty beatup (nothing a little WD40 and windex won't clean).

http://www.cheaperthandirt.com/ctd/product.asp?sku=MAG%2D105&thru=fr&mscssid=C2CK70VEK7FB8PXQ7QW3HKHBVWV00E1F

I also have a Preban unknown mfg. 30rd and a M14 Preban 30rder. I've been collecting these guys for a few weeks now.

EDIT: Hey AZ-K9 what kind of receivers are those? Ameetec? Mega?

there is a reason why Israel surplused those mags you know, and the reason why USGI mags are such a big deal is because they are USGI

OUT OF STOCK currently.
you could contact them, though. Good Price.
I'm guessing they'll have them after the Sept 14 run on lowers is past.

Here's an EE interesting lower - RRA "US Property" marked

Those RRA US property marked Lowers look like the shiznit. I wish I had the funds to get one now, but for now I'll be sticking to just getting a LAR upper and worrying about the rest when I get back for Christmas break.

Off topic, but I am ordering one of the LAR AR15 Uppers. It's gotta be shipped to an FFL right?

No only receivers have to be shipped to FFL's, Uppers are just parts

I really wanted an Ameetec, but I couldn't find anyone to do a transfer at a price that made it worthwhile.  Oh well.  I do have a RRA stripped lower laying around the house somewhere.

You should try a Stag Arms lower. Very High quality fit and finish. They are priced very well too. You can find them on the EE, eagle firearms sell them. Eagle Firearms is also very good to deal with.

See the following thread.  The Mega lowers are superior in my opinion, and in the opinions of many others...

You're almost always better-off, price-wise, buying a stripped lower and assembling parts on it.

The assembly process is butt-simple.  Toughest part is installing the detent pin for the front takedown pin and the roll pin for the bolt stop, and neither is really hard.  Nothing beyond a screwdriver or Allen wrench, a roll pin punch and a hammer (or medium sized rock) needed in the way of tools.

I've heard good things about RRA, Mega, Ameetec and LMT lowers.  Haven't used any of them to date.  I've built a couple of Eagle Arms lowers lately (about $105-$110 out the door) and have had zero problems.  Basically, any decent lower will work; find one at a decent price and check that there aren't any posts reporting terrible problems, and you'll be good to go.  I've seen far more in the way of problems with cheap fire control groups than with lowers.  I'm partial to Bushmaster lower parts sets (about $65) just because I've always had good results with them, and saving $4 or $7 hasn't been worth the potential hassle of bad triggers, hammers and disconnectors as I've seen with some cheap parts sets.

'A2 stock parts are dirt cheap, and installation is simplicity itself.

I'm guessing from the statements about Christmas and Spring breaks that you're in school?  That means money is tight.  Spend it where you have to, on a good lower and internal parts, do the assembly yourself,  and you'll save some money to use towards an upper, bolt and barrel.

Edited to add: in a few weeks US GI magazines will be dirt cheap once again.  Maybe even approaching the 100/$200 prices found back in the pre-AWB days.  If post-ban police/military new in wrapper magazines can be found currently for $7/each, there's no way prices will go anywhere but down on 14 September, though a temporary buying frenzy might push prices up to $10 or so.

The thing to worry about is what will happen in the event of a Kerry victory.  Parts aren't likely to be banned, but rifles/receivers may be further restricted in January if the socialists get control of Congress.  So make buying a lower receiver your highest priority.

AGC, what about prices for Beta C mags, what do you think.

I'm not a Beta mag fan by any stretch of the imagination.  But if they're still in production (I believe they are?) they'll be available to us peasants at roughly the current LEO/military price once the initial post-14 September buying frenzy has settled down.

I'd just as soon spend the price of a Beta on GI magazines and ammunition...

actually USGI is a generic reference to United States Government Issue

as in it works with US Gov issued firearms

Best Lowers

LMT (or Lauer- made by LMT)
