How can you tell, or how will you identify a bad quality  upper AR receiver? it all looks the same when they are sitting on dealers shelves, and even the dealers are confused on to what brand they have and are selling, since it looks the same, and has no stamp on it. i'm afraid that the defcets or imperfections will be noticeable when I'm already starting to assemble it.Thanks.

Eh..

1) Is it cast?
2) Is it broken?

Those should be your main points of avoidance.  Past that, there's not much bad out there. God bless mil-spec.

Tweak has a really good paper on looking at good A2 upper receivers (the receiver only - he doesn't get into the barrel).  IIRC its available at www.MD-Ar15.com in the Documents area - Technical Documents folder Click here if you're a MD-AR5.com member and your passport is active
