If you want the best flash hiding 1. Vortex 2. Phantom 3. A2 Compensator qualities and less dust signature 1. A2 2. Phantom 3. Vortex If you need one to bring a 14.5" barrel out to the legal 16" minimun you're limited to a permanetly attached Vortex or Phantom. |

The Vortex is an awesome flash hider but the tines can be a real pain in the you know what. My personal opinion is that the Phantom offers the best combo of low snag and excellent flash reduction. It is my #1 choice for carbine length barrels. The A2 is perfectly fine for most applications. Often times it's more an idividual taste in cosmetic appearance

I had the concern on the vortex getting caught on stuff...not that I crawl around in the bush...but you never know. Im thinking the Phantom is what Im gonna do...Ive gotta 16 in post ban...Im gonna send it to Steve @ Adco to cut it down and perm install it for 16 OAL...

1 vote for 3 prong, for all you pencil barrel lovers.
For fat barrels I prefer A2, seems to be the best all around FS, and no extra charge! |

+1. 3-Prong all the way. It's the only way to fly. Though for fat barrels, I have no real preference, either A2 or A1, with the slight edge perhaps going to the A1 for its better flash suppression abilities, IMNSHO. |

I went the three prong route and am very happy. They just look right and the $8 price is even better.
I'm done with paying $40 for a Vortex. |

So maybe I oughta just go with the A2..Ive got a H/B...I dont think the 3 prong would look right...yous guys aint helpin' me nonz too much!

ok..so I thought..hell..lemme use the SEARCH button..LOL. Looks like the Phantom 5 slot is the best of both worlds. Plus it will look the best on an H/B.

I bought mine for $10 at a gunshow from the guy with the huge bins of every single AR-15 part imaginable. Brand New as well. |

KKF seems to be the cheapest at around $35, but he seems to have quite a backlog. Adco does it for around $56. Most of my local smiths are charging around $50 to thread the barrel. |

+1 I have one ready to install if I can ever get the original phantom off the damn barrel. I swear the original owner put the thing on with JB Weld! Maybe this is just an excuse to build another upper around the new phantom? |
