I think the title says it all. I'm really trying to avoid Vortex or Phantom.

14.5" m4gery barrel or 16" m4gery barrel?

if its a 14.5" and you perm attach an a2, and your lower is NOT SBR'ed then that is illegal.

if you have a 16" then you have nothing to worry about no matter what you do.  assuming the ban sunsets.

14.5.....Along the same lines I've heard that a certain stamp is needed for a CAR type flash suppressor...funny Bushmaster doesn't mention this anywhere...

the 5-port non-pronged phantom looks a lot like the A2 anyway. Also Kurt's Kustom Firearms makes an lengthened A2 FS for 14.5" barrels.

I  think you are talking about the sound moderator on the XM177. These are rare, the things Bushmaster sells do not moderate sound and are not restricted items.
