I got the Blackhawk Ind. descrete weapons case for the MP5SSD, 24" long and it's perfect for my get go.  The Fender patch is a pit of urban camoflage.

VERY NICE!  and an idea that I wish I had thought of.   If you don't mind me asking, where did ya get the patch from and how much did the case set you back?  Is that a 16" barrel?

What Fender would ever fit in that case?

armax,
Yes, it's 16" overall barrel. Bushmaster 14.5" with permanenet super loud Y-comp on it.  I got the patch off of e-bay before they went commie, and I can't remember what I paid for the case (it was on sale as the local gun shop where I got it couldn't sell that odd size).  I'm sure you can find it on Blackhawk industries' website.

The velcro attachments. Is that factory or a mode of your own? Very nice.

That must be a 26" case. I can't find a 24" case anywhere.

Dragonfly, I'm guessing the other case is for your mags? Where did you get the smaller case?

Pretty cool!

Though I do wonder if the Fender logo really helps because it may make it a more likely target for theives.

I would think something like the labels below would be better at keeping people away.

Hm, doesn't the Fender patch scream "steal me!"?  I shun laptop cases that have the manufacturer's name on them, they're easy to spot as it is.

Any thing in a soft padded case probably has value.  The Fender just makes it liberal friendly.

GREAT idea with the velcro patch.

I used to keep my ruger PC9 in a gibson hardcase till a cop gave me a baaaaaaad look at the range.

Now that I know it's legal I think a HUGE gibson patch is going on MY eagle case!

I have the 24" case that's identical to that....have my Bushy pistol in it.

Say, did you order 2 more straps, or make them......or what.

Looks good bye the way.

Hey Gang!
  When I travel
with my Car, i.e. carbine classes, I break it down & carry
it in an old saxophone case. The handle is gone
& has been replaced with wraps of wire covered in cloth
tape. It's scarred up, the trim is hanging off, etc. Who
would want to steal the POS in there? The main reason
is so that I can carry it into my motel room without a
keen eyed observer recognizing it as a rifle. Any old
old suit case will do. Great idea, Dragonfly!

My mistake, it is the Blackhawk 26" case (I'm too young to have "senior moments" like that)
www.blackhawkindustries.com/product_detail.asp?product_id=1947&d=
and I didn't pay a 100-bucks for it either.

The pen was to give the picture some scale

2 velcro straps came with the case, I had to contat Blackhawk to get 2 more.  But I'm sure I could've just made my own.

The patch is just so if anyone happens to see me with my case, their question is already answered.  I never intend to leave my rifle case unattended for people to steal.

The front pocket holds my mags, targets, etc... along with my my pistol.  The mag pouches come with the case, the pistol holder I bought separately.  Room left over for my holsters, sling and pouches too.  Within the case I have a tinny zippered pouch (i-omega zip drive) which hold my sight adjustment tools, alan wrentch, nickle, snap caps etc...)  I carry my ammo, stapler, tape etc... in another bag.  It works for me

Dragonfly,
From the picture, to my eyes anyway, it appears that the clearances at either end of the upper are pretty tight.
You mentioned you had a 14.5 with a permanent FH.
Do you think a 16" plus A2 FH would fit?
Thanks,
D

Real nice setup you got there.

I got a question for you too.
I'm seriously thing of getting a Blackhawk case, but there is only 3/8" of foam around the weapon. I'd rather have a little more protection than that  Does it seem to offer enough protection in your opinion?

M4banger> I think the padding is suffcient for my use.  It's closed cell foam and I "plunk" it down on a bench with confidence.  Though I don't throw my case around either, nor do I intend to go to hell and back with it.  A pelican case is better for that type of duty.  It's a range bag.

SC-Texas> my appologies on the cigar, I was intending to smoke it that day.  I'm not a cigar guy, and it shows.  Besides, it's so humid in Hawaii that mold grows on glass, so it drying out is unlikely.

You can fit an AR in a double tennis racket case.  When I take my shottie out, I put it in a golf club bag.  Complete with the red club sock, over the barrel.  No one even bats an eye.  Had a guy ask me
once, about playin golf. "Oh yeah, I try to get to the range any chance I get."

+1 on the Eagle case!  The instrument cases look really cool and are good camoflage BUT musical instruments are probably one of the most stolen things.  I can't tell you how many gigs I've been on and guys are playing "hot" horns they bought at a pawnshop somewhere.  Anyway, I was thinking the Eagle "Adidas" case or the Waller cases (with similar logo) would be just about perfect.  They look just like a glorified gym bag.

Instruments only get stolen if they're left unattended.  I'm not going to be leaving my AR unattended, except for in my home.  I'd rather people see me going to and from my home with an instrument case than a gun case.
