Hi guys. How far can most people shoot w/ nothing but just iron sights? Its even quite hard to see the target already at 100 yards? How about w/ an EO-tech? will it make it easier, because thre will be no more sights to align? Can an A.R.M.S. no 40 flip up still be accurate at these ranges?

I've shot 600 yards with irons (highpower).  My problem is that I can't read the wind worth beans.

I would be lucky to shoot 300 yards without a scope

300 yards is nothing, almost no change to your sights from 100 and no real big wind effect either.

I use carbines so I practice at the ranges you would expect to have to defend yourself at 25,50 and 100 yds.My full size rifle however I can use at 300 yds as thats as far as my range goes and the distance we shoot the cmp matches at.

200 yards tops at my range... and I'm just happy to hit paper.

Sometimes I think I just like to hear the boom.

Where do you hold the sights at 800meters? Can you even see the target without a scope? How big is the target at those distances?

Targets are very big at that distance.

It depends mostly on the eyesight and skill of the shooter.

Of coures the accuracy of the rifle/ammo have to be up to it, and the size/color of the target (too small or if it blends with the background is going to make it tougher).

As to can you see the taget at 100y?  100y isn't a far shot for a rifle, and most targets that are sold at stores should be rather easy to see and hit.  If you want to start easy try using a 8-12" paper plate at that distance.

600y is routinly shot at High Power matches using iron sights - but they use a large contrasting target to do this.  You'd NEVER see a soldier in uniform at 600y under most conditions.  That is the kind of difference the taret color/size makes

Yes EOTechs do make the job easier as there is only 1 plane to deal with (the target plane) rather than 3 planes (rear sight, front sight, target).  This is the advantage of collameter type optics.
