I think you have to remove the gas block with the LaRue. Not with the Troy, whick makes installation a lot easier. I have a Troy myself and I think it's great.

Let me throw you another curve...check out the SureFire M73 too!
I own (or have owned) a KAC, a M73, Troy MRF and hopefully a LaRue next week  All are a quality products that do their jobs very, very well. I've handled C4iGrants LaRue enough to determine that it is the best bang for the buck, period. That said, if installation is not your thing or if you don't feel like sending your upper off to someone that can I would suggest the M73 or the Troy MRF. The M73 is very simple, pop off your hold handguard, pop on the M73 and tighten down two set screws. The Troy requires you to cut off your Delta ring and the snap ring so you'll need a dremel tool. The Troy is a little on the heavy side. It's not a bad heavy; it is heavier than the M73, LaRue and KAC but not as heavy as a SIR.HTH |

One continous rail really isn't that important unless your running a scope and even then you can go with the LaRue Tactical Cantilever scope mount. Since I am both a TROY and LaRue Tactical dealer I will chime in with my opinion. If you can remove your front sight, FS and barrel nut, then go with the LaRue 7.0. If you cannot do these things then go with the TROY MRF-C. The LaRue 7.0 is the sturdier/lighter option IMHO. Both will serve you well... C4 www.gandrtactical.com |

LaRue Tactical is the only way to go. I mean c'mon his motto is "God bless our troops.... especially our snipers!" Now how can you go wrong with that?

rasII is the best... free float, SOLID, doesn't require any change to your upper... allows for any optic...

It allows for any optic as long as you want to use an Aimpoint on the bridge or an EOTech over the HG's. I like my EOTech mounted on my receiver with a LaRue EOTech mount so the RAS II is a no go! C4 |

It's important if you like to mount your Aimpoint where the retaining nut of the typical FF system resides and are not fond of cantilever mounts (like me). Does LaRue have any future plans for a continuous rail system? The Troy rail is a neat design. Too bad that it weights more then it should and that attachment of the lower rail

Ok, now the Knights free float is in contention. Does the top rail match the height on all of the rails mentioned?
I wanted knights panels for whatever I am going to buy. When I looked up the price of the panels, I noted the knights free float comes with 3 panels and is $289. That basically makes it the best deal of all of them. Now that I know the Larue, DD and the Troy are all about equal choices, are they in some way better than the Knights? This crap is confusing. I remember when there was only one choice and you couldn't find a dealer that stocked them. Those days are over. |

The LaRue without 3 covers is $247 and the TROY MRF-C is $250 and the KAC FF RAS (carbine) is $299 (with 3 covers) and the DD 7.0 (with 3 covers) is $270. So as you can see the LaRue 7.0 is the best value on the market (with or without covers... C4 |

It seems even at your price of $299 the Knights is the best deal. Knights rail covers are over $20 each. That is $60 in rail covers. If I buy a larue and 3 covers (I want knights covers) I am $10 over Knights price.
If you say the LaRue is a better RAS, I can go with with that. I just want to know if the top rail of the Knights is at the same height as the receiver rail. The other thing is, the pics I see of the Knights, looks like the anodizing has that purple color. Is this true? |

I am not following you on pricing. The KAC Carbine FF RAS with 3 covers is $299. The LaRue 7.0 FF rail system with 3 Tango Down rail covers is $262. The LaRue 7.0 is $37 dollars cheaper! The KAC rails line up with the upper receiver (as do the DD and the LaRue). The KAC FF RAS is not purple.... C4 |

C4, regardless of what RAS I get, I want to put Knights panels on it. I am sorry I was not clear on this. Thats why my numbers seem wonkey.
I will buy one of the aforementioned RAS' tomorrow after I brew a bit more. |

To be honest, the KAC panels are REALLY over priced. They are double the price of the TD rail covers and you don't get double the cover! The KAC FF RAS also doesn't have the anti-roll system that the LaRue has.....C4 |
