When I put together my DPMS carbine in 1998, I was thinking I'd get a shortish rifle that would be light and durable. As is the usual case when I am out to modify something, I went over the top - I tried at least 4 scopes on this gun (all were great, and I don't have an understanding why I took any of them off the gun), and the barrel is so frickin heavy that I might as well carry my Garand if the SHTF.

I'm trying to get back to the idea of the light, flexible carbine, so I'm thinking that I'd rather carry that Bushmaster rifle than my current one when I add my ATN scope ( that will add something like two pounds to the rifle - no shit!).

Anybody have any ideas, thoughts or reports on the Carbon 15? I tried a search and got surpisingly little...

I think you're better off going with a real AR15 with a lightweight barrel.
