Welcome to the site!

You definitely can't go wrong with a Bushmaster. Take some time and tried to read as much information as possible on this site.

Not a better AR can be had IMO. I own 3 of 'em... Never one problem..

BTW:  Welcome... You will soon be absorbed by the "Black Rifle Disease"

Happy shooting!

I too am thinking that the XM15 A3 should be my first AR.  It is between that and a DPMS (their factory is located about 100 miles away).  After reading this board for a day, I think that the Bushmaster is the way to go-now I just have to wait until the AWB sunsets to get one with all the toys on it.  Having to special order a chrome barrel turned me off of the DPMS, in addition to the ammo restrictions.  I'd like to think that if I wanted to run a case of Wolf through my AR, I could.

i bought an xm15 a3 in 20" an it has been perfect for the first 2000 rounds of cheap ammo ive put though it. I can hit anything with it. It is awesome. Buy one and see, Or just go ahead and buy two and save yourself the pain of wanting another later.hug.gif

Bushmaster makes a fine rifle.  I highly reccommend them.  The only problem with these dang things is, you just can't stop at one.  Black gun fever.....Mom always said feed a fever.....h.gif

My one and only (so far) is a Bushmaster.  Great rifle!

The chrome-lined barrels for DPMS rifles do cost a whole 20 more dollars!!!   What is this world coming to!!!!!!

The ammo restrictions do get a little annoying but my DPMS rifles hasn't coughed on anything yet.  It isn't recommended to use the old wolf ammo in any AR but the new is quite good from what Ive seen.

I would go Bushy if I were you (great guns), my DPMS rifle is more of a "Accuracy" rifle since it has a Big Bull Ass 24" barrel and shoots .5 MOA or better.  I am getting a bushy upper for my lower, Bushy M4 16".

Look into a flattop upper with a removable carry handle. It will give you a whole lot more mounting options. This of course, is only my opinion but my first AR was a 20" XM15E2S and to this day I  regret not getting the romovable carry handle.
