The UMC ammo you speak of is NOT reloads. I should know, I work there and have spoke with our distributer. The Winchester that you see for 12 bucks a box is completely different. It is 45 gr. hollowpoint and designed for varmint shooting, that is why it is more expensive. Also, shooting reloads IS a BIG thing. If you read your manuals you will see that NEARLY ALL companies will not honor warranties if your gun blows up shooting reloads. And yes, I have seen a rifle blow-up using reloads. My buddies friend and I were shooting his m-16 when it blew up in his face using Maine corp. reloads, luckily he was using thermolds so he only had to pull a few pieces of plastic out of his leg and he was able to pick his RDIAS off the ground, wipe it off and put it in another ar15.
