I have an A2 and am looking to add optics... 1x Aimpoint or Eotech.  I'd love to see pics of any you guys have for options I might have.  BTW, it's an Armalite M15A2 w/midlength handguard.

Thanks

Both Aimpoint & EOTech are good optics. You should try to go shooting with friends who have
both so you can see which one is best for You.

I like the Aimpoint best, but that's just me.

Go to this thread and you will see lots of setups of Aimpoints/EOTechs.

With your A1 carry handle, you will be kind of limited on mounting options, but it's best to
mount your optics forward and not on top of the carry handle.

The Aimpoint has it's own forward mount or you can use an ARMS #39.
It will co-witness the Aimpoint but not the EOTech. For the EOTech use their brand forward
mount or try the Bennie Cooley Co-Witnessing Adjustable Mount.

There are more expensive alternatives as well, but those are your best bets IMO.

on page 19 of the picture thread you can see a setup similar to mine. I have a DPMS A1 with a Z-mount. I have my Hakko BED-24 mounted forward of the reciever along with my scorpion light. Although it cant be co-witnessed, it works really well and the entire mount with sight, light system and anything else attached can be removed with one nut to use the irons and still keeps its zero well once re-attached. Once i figure out how to do the picture trick on the forum i plan on posting pics.

Thanks guys!  That was the thread I was originally trying to find.

I guess if I had just looked at the topof the page, I'd have noticed that.

I have a new goose-neck A2 mount, but to me, it wasnt low enough, so I mounted the reflex sight on the upper handguard.

I know there's the picture thread above but what the hey.

Awesome set-up. My BHD carbine. I know about forward mounting and all but this worked for years before the flat top came along and there's alot to be said for it. It's not like this anymore though. Too heavy for an ultra light so I go with just the irons and Surefire now on this.

TexasGunman,

How well dose that HG mount hold zero? I did the same thing with a Reflex II once, and it seemed like POI was always changing.

TexasGunman, how can that setup possibly hold a zero without a FF tube/handguard?  Just curious.  Unless I'm seeing something wrong (which is very possible) that setup is not rigid enough for any optic.  Tell me I'm seeing things.

I also liked this pic a lot. It has got to be one of the best AR pictures on the picture thread.

I know the carry handle/Aimpoint combo isnt very good, but it looks SWEET

I have tried several but went with the eotech for several reasons!  The Eotech is a proven site and it has a great view with the iron sites still on.  I have one on my colt A2 hbar and one on my bushmaster a3.  I went hunting with it this week and got a boar on the run!  Quick site picture, acurate, user friendly. My wife loves the eotech.  She is a novice shooter but picked up the Bushmaster and was right on the money!  Great Product!
