Hi people, Thanks to you folks who have helped and answered my questions. Ok here goes. I think this may be a dumb question, but I am left handed does this matter as far getting my first AR? I think they are for right or left handed people but I want to make sure before I order. Thanks Rick

STOP and think for a minute. Does the military restrict it's recruting to right handed personel only:)

first, welcome to the board [:)]
as far as being left handed, you're good to go, as all the newer model AR's have a brass deflector on them....i shoot my bushy left handed quite often

I think somebody makes a left handed AR but if I were left handed I'd stick with a standard AR.  The biggest annoyance was addressed long ago with the addition of brass deflector.  If ya want a tru ambidextrous rifle, I think the G36 would do but we can't get those, or you can spend thousands to get an SL8 and hack it up to use hi cap magazines and look like a G36.  I'd pass on that.
