I rec'd a Surefire 6P as a gift.

What's available in simple hangers or brackets to hang this thing under a standard barrel?  Not M4, no lug, no other parts there.

TIA.

Well, Wilson Combat makes a mount that goes on the front sight tower that has a clamp, with a weaver rail on one side and a sling swivel on the other.  Its kinda pricy, though, and it puts the light on one side or the other of the FST.  You could go on the cheap and do it like this or like this.  Or, you can install a weaver rail (like this on the bottom of the lower handguard, towards the front, and mount it with a scope ring.  Now, with all that being said, the 6P is not really a good substitute for a dedicated weapons light from Surefire.  Please refer to my 6P mounting post.  Hope this helps.

Mine's a 600 series light that came with all the mounting stuff(barrel clamp w/pic rail, weaver 30mm flashlight ring), but I'm sure surefire will sell you a barrel mount seperately. you can purchase a standard weaver scope ring at any sporting goods/gun store.

Thanks guys.

That Maryland site is nice.  I'm gonna contact Surefire, see if they'll sell me the barrel mount parts.

Ya...the 6P may not be perfect, but at $300 or more, I'm not sure I need the perfect light.

Another option is the 'clip on' mount that Bushmaster sells.  It clips onto standard handguards (A2 or Carbine) and can mount the light at 9:00 or 3:00.  Fairly inexpensive and doesn't have any issues about shifting the point of impact (which you can have with items mounted directly to the barrel).

The Hanguard mount on the Maryland AR-15 site is also a workable solution.  I ran my 6P that way for a couple of years....

I use a Bushmaster  BMAS Triple Mount. It gives you three mounting rails to mount a weaver base to. A 1" ring will hold the 6P nicely and attach to the triple mount. I use an ARMS quick release mount on my Surefire M2 to attach to my BMAS mount. It's not cheap, but it works well.

Good news!!!  I talked to the surefire people today, and they are happy to sell just the bracket for attaching a 6P or other light under the barrel!  See pic posted above by Sulaco2 for the part in question.  It's that little dual-clamp bracket.

Only $92 plus shipping!

Nope - not a typo.

See - it's coz it's made of a special California Surefire alloy created by combining platinum and gold in a special tritium base.  Unfortunately, breathing dust in a room where this alloy is machined causes instantaneous stupidity.  This explains both the price and the reason why the Surefire staff forms the core of the re-elect Gray Davis campaign.

Anyhoo...mebbe I'll just whittle out my own.

Thanks to all for the excellent suggestions and recommendations.
