I've read on here that the Colt 6400 is about the closest to Mil Spec one can get-If I ordered just the Colt 6400 upper, would there be a problem setting it on a standard post ban Bushmaster lower....is it small pins?

Yes, it will work...the take down pins are mil-spec.  Go for it but good luck finding just the upper.

All the current Colts have the 0.250 pivot pin.  The FCG is still their proprietary larger size.

Why not go with a Bushmaster rifle, add the feed ramps if you want to and have the same thing for less money?

Another difference is the 1:7 twist in the Colt vs the 1:9 in the Bushy.  All Colt would need to do to make the 6400 perfect would be to make a model with the 14.5" barrel w/muzzle brake.

Since I'm dreaming, I'd like to see them use a different brake as well - perhaps a longer version of the Wilson Comp/A2 FS look-alike. [;)]

Hey guys thanks for the info. I have yet to join the ranks of AR ownership, so if this is a dumb question...sorry. But what is  the FCG? I would assume that is the other pin.

Gunner45 FCG stands for Fire Control Group. Be careful when you get your first AR cause they have a tendency to multiply! [;)]
