When I got my AR, one of the reasons I went with the Bushie was because it was cheaper than a Colt. I felt like I was paying the $150-$200 extra just for the Colt name.

Is the Bushmaster at $750 also a A3 (removable handle)? Last time I checked their wasn't that much difference in between the two. If you do deciede to get the Colt you won't lose any of that $150 when you sell it. The Colts keep their value well.

Does the colt have those goofy parts (Strange front take down pins and odd fire controll group pins?) Screw that! If it does go bushmaster. Go bushmaster anyway. |

What does it matter if the colt has odd sized parts?.. I keep hearing this and dont understand the logic behide it. If you can legally preform FA conversions then I guess it does matter but for 99% of us, who cares. Most after market triggers are available in non Colt and Colt sizes which is why I dont understand where you guys are coming from. Fill me in...

What's the twist? If they're both 1/9, get the Bushmaster, if they're both 1/7, get the Bushmaster, if the Colt is 1/7 and the Bushmaster is 1/9, get the Colt (I can't believe I said that! [:O]).

Absotively get the Colt MT 6400c. The Bushie is a fine carbine and I really have no axe to grind, but the Colt is simply a better piece. Better barrel (1/7" twist, chrome lined)with side sling attachment.
Upper/Lower receivers marked "M4" (strictly aesthetic, but much cooler than "XM15-E2S") RAS numbers "H" buffer M4 feed ramp cuts Standard size front and rear push pins The only real problem with the piece is the "blast enhancing" muzzle brake, which is easily removed. The trigger pin size is a complete non-issue, in my opinion. The Colt is worth the price of the standard "upgrades". I sold my Bushmaster M4A3 to buy the Colt, and I couldn't be more pleased. Brewer is absolutly right on the colt specs
I just bought one . And did I mention I love it? All I can say is the colt is a dang fine firearm no complaints have no bushmasters to offer a opinion on . So I am not going to tell you colt is better but you will not be disappointed in the colt quality. |

Thanks all for the advice, but fate sealed my choice. The distributor is out of the Bushys, so I'm buying the Colt.
It'll be wrappped and put under the tree. To me from my wife. I can't wait to see the look on her face!!! |

No regrets here! My second Colt, and 3rd AR. First was a 16" HBAR. I had a 16" Bushy preban before the new Colt. The fit and finish of the MT6400C is definitely top-notch! Don't miss the Bushy at all.

I have a LE/ GOV COlt as well as a M4 Bushmaster. I love my Colt, but you are not getting more for your dollar. If you need the Colt name, then pay the extra. Either weapon will do fine, with Bushmaster being more helpful to you if you aren't LE. Colt isn't exactly known for its service, and yes everyones parts break eventually.

I agree with stickman, both have great reputations. I can only speak firsthand of BM, very satisfied, and yes, they have excellent customer service. The most important thing has already happened...Your'e now in the family. Bless you, and may you shoot well and often.

Again, Thanks for the info and warm welcome. I ended up buying the Colt MT6400C from Quality Surplus for $869.99 and $12.00 shipping. I had seen them mentioned at this site and tracked them down. If you get colt there is no coversion for you![nono] If you are talking about full auto conversion you are incorrect. You certainly [b]can[/b] do it with a Colt. A Lightning Link or DIAS doesn't care about trigger pin size, and any machine shop will mill out the shoulder for about 20 bucks. For the 99% of us who don't care about full auto conversions having the extra material around the end of the receiver can't hurt in terms of durability. Besides, if I was going to spend a few grand to venture into NFA something tells me that an extra $80 for a new stripped lower isn't going to break the piggy bank. In the meantime I'll enjoy the lifetime warranty, reliability, and higher resale value of my "overpriced" Colts... |

I'm in Law Enforcement and the rifle will be a trunk gun in case the SHTF.
In this case, Full-Auto is irrelevent to me. I've trained on the M4, Uzi and HK MP-5 and realize Full-Auto is a very good way for most shooters to waste ammunition. I'm very pleased with my purchase and may just build another AR for the fun of it later in 2004. |
