I saw some at the SAR Show in 2002 and should have bought them then. They really do look pretty cool.

They were originally introduced on the CAR15. Not some custom stuff. It's real and should be available somewhere

I saw some triangular free floats (aluminum), but I also cannot find them anymore. They were from a distributor and offered both in short and long lengths. They were quite attractive. I'll dig....

Somebody in Texas makes repro CAR-15 handguards and the CAR-15 (short A1) collapsible stock.

Oh man...I would LOVE to get my hands on original CAR-15 triangle handguards and the original collapsing buttstock, that looked more like an A1 than anything else..talk about dressing up my XM177 project perfectly.

That's the first model collapsable stock. There is a little lever on the cut-out on the buttplate. You rotate it one way to unlock, extend the stock, and a clock-type spring rotates it back into locking position. A guy called WATom over on Subguns.com makes repros of this stock for $350.
