Looking at buying an Armalite Ar15 post ban for $600 NIB. I'm new here, and at this. So Is this a good deal or no? Anything I should be looking for/at? It has a shorter barrel, no muzzel brake.

Luke,
just make sure the rifle hasn't been abused.

I've had an M15A4 carbine for about four years now and love it.

5sub,
Thanks for the reply. It's new in the box and looks great. Can a muzzel brake be added later? should it?

There's really no way to tell.  some people are fanatical about keeping there gun finishes perfect, but they dump thousands of rounds thru them by bump firing and god knows what.  Then there are people like me.  Most of my guns have low round counts, but have a lot of holster or handling wear.

If it is truly NIB, that is hard to beat.  Don't see much down side.  You can put on a muzzle break (check Kurt's Kustom Firearms in the Industry section).  You can't put on a flash supressor until after the AWB sets.

Great gun, Great price. Muzzle break is worthless on a 5.56mm.

It would be helpful if you could get us the FULL model number.  (Be sure and check the rifle serial number to the serial number on the box.)

There is nothing better than having the title of being an Armalite M15A2 owner

Don't put a muzzlebreak on it, you wont need it, Get some good XM193 ammo and have a fire show at the range

OK, now that we're back up.
First, Thanks for the responses.

The model on the box is:
ARMLE15A4CB

PART NUMBER IS:
E15A4CB

Serial Number is:
US250002

Box and carbine match.
just what am I checking the serial number for?

ARMALITE puts out a great product.  You said "shorter barrel"...make sure it is at least 16".  I am wary of the model and part #.  The "LE" and part # suggests it is a law enforcement rifle that should have come with a flash suppressor.  Call your State Department of Justice Firearms unit and have them check the serial # for stolen before investing.  If everything is on the up & up, the price you quoted is a good deal.
5Sub or somebody else with more experience may have better advice on the model#.[/blue]

Yes, the barrel's 16". No flash suppressor or even threads for one.

Luke,
first of all, don't worry about posting too much.  You're one of us now.

I wanted you to check the S/N on the rifle against the S/N on the box just to make sure they match.

What you're looking at is an Eagle Arms EA15A4CB  (AR-15 Carbine).  Eagle is a division of ArmaLite.  Nothing wrong with Eagle expecially at $600 and NIB.

You'll be getting a chrome moly barrel instead of chrome lined but that just means you'll have to do a little more cleaning and barrel life will be shorter.  Don't worry much about barrel life as most of us have NEVER shot out a barrel of any type.

(I believe list price on this rifle is $835.00)
