With a Pre-Ban H-bar, would altering the barrel to A2 profile destroy the value of the rifle?

To the purist, yes.  

The rifle is no longer original, and the abilities of the one who turned the barrel will always be in question.  But we are not talking a lot of dollars here, so I wouldn't worry if that is what you want.

As far as carrying and shooting it go, you will be much happier though...
