I tried searching for this and I'm sure it's been asked a hundred times...

How do suppressors stop fireballs from occurring? Do they keep them from burning, or diffuse them enough that it is less visible or something else?

They vibrate and cause turbulence in the atmosphere near the muzzle. The volatile gasses exiting the muzzle are broken up and disturbed so they no longer maintain a coherent mass of flammable material. Therefore, the expanding gasses are introduced the the oxygen-rich outside air more slowly and they don't re-ignite.
