I'm curious why they based the cartridge on the 222 mag rather than the 223.

It could make for a better-formed neck for the smaller bullet, or it the the shoulder far enough forward to give a little more powder capacity. But I'm not a reloader. :) |

I have built 4 Tactical 20's and all of them shoot amazingly well. 5 shots under 1/2" at 100 is no problem. Smallest group shot to date, went into .158".
As soon as the final dimensions are blessed on the .204 Ruger and reamers become available, I'll do one up in .204 Ruger. I keep the .20 caliber Pac-Nor Super Match barrel blanks in stock at all times so the lead time will be short. Tony Rumore Tromix Corp |

You can achieve simaler ballistics with 55gr bullet chambered in 222 mag as a 55gr 22-250 with load development. Less powder, less recoil, same speed. You can't loose. Although brass will naturally be more expensive than 223 and if you don't reload, 222 mag factory ammunition cannot be had at wal-mart or just about anywere else for that matter.
