I am saving up for a large caliber (.30 or larger) AR upper reciever.  What caliber should I get.  I want something that will feed reliably, has good long range capability (200 yds and farther), and has conntrolable recoil.

Thanks in advance for all your help

Why not just get an AR10?

Better be ready to roll your own ammo if you plan on getting .300 whisper, .458 SOCOM, .50 Beowulf, etc.  Don't think you can reload for LW .499 yet.

I'd get an AK before getting an AR upper in 7.62X39 too.  Cheaper and just as fun.  It's a completely new rifle too [:)]  Lots of info in the AK section here if you have not been there yet.

If I were to get a large caliber upper though, It'd be between .458 socom and .50 beowulf
