If they wanted to take away everybody's guns, they'd have to pay the value for them. Can you imagine how much it would cost to buy all the guns in the country?

Anyway, this is why I am buying an AR now, instead of waiting for the sunset. If I already have one and a stiffer ban goes into effect, they probably won't try to take it away. If they pass such a bill, I'll go to the protests, vote for somebody else, write the letters, etc. Oh, and if they do start trying to buy back rifles, I guess I'll bury it in the yard in a pipe. =D

The problem lies in that most of us are too lazy to write letters to our congressmen.  Also, many (myself included) are pessimistic and don't believe that letters from a few AR nuts will do anything, when you have millions of gun haters in major states that outnumber us and are electing likeminded representatives.

I think that even if they don't sign a new ban right away, it WILL happen.  The problem lies in this notion that the 2nd ammendment is only reffering to hunting rifles.  This is basically the common belief of many, they feel we should be like england where an over under shotgun is the most you can ever own.  As long as our representatives IGNORE the true meaning of a militia and right to bear arms, we are screwed.

problem is too many folk's that own guns think's they cannot be touched. now a few of us think that the ban will just go away! I think that a new one will go into effect and that this law will be worse. I've done my speeches about it and I am through! most people think that we should not be able to posses these type of weapon's period. not just the government most average run of the mill folks.

Gun owner keep talking about a line in the sand, well its been crossed a hundred times and the same pussy gun owner do NOTHING.

What will 99% of gun owners do when there is a complete ban 15 years from now?

Nothing. They will turn in all their guns and say "Well, I wrote letters"

As a group, we gun owners are damn pathetic. You should all be ashamed of yourselves.

That is what Im talking about; I don't mean to sound like a pessimist.  However in california and similar states what can a few AR nuts really do?  The vast majority of the citizens in these states have different values and cultures (socialism) which isn't exactly supporitive of our constitutional rights.

So if I sound pessimistic, sorry.  However I feel like there is nothing that we can do to stop this erosion of rights short of forming militias.

To answer the original topic, will I hand in my weapons?  I will keep all registered & unregistered guns and report all REGISTERED guns stolen.

The line in the sand will be crossed when authorities attempt to confinscate my unregistered firearms.

Maybe nothing except voice our opinions to our elected officials? (i like that one)

I make donations to my elected officials under the sole purpose of being a progun advocate......I make sure they now this.

I am not a proponent of breaking the law.. I want to make sure you all know this but eventually i feel we will need to if our gun rights are voided with a more strict ban.....

How about more opinions rather then Sarcastic comments

Every Revolution Begins With A Single Act Of Defiance,Then the lambs and sheep of society will have to become wolves if they love liberty and want to be free.Im a Lawabiding tax paying citizen no ones taking the personal property I worked hard for to protect my country, community and family and those that seek to take it from me will be considered traitors and terrorists and be dealt with accordingly. But before that and I hope it never comes to that we must use the ballot box and make every anti-gun politician pay by not re electing them.John Kerry goes pheasant hunting saying he dosent need an "assault weapon" to hunt with, see the game he kisses hunters asses because the liberals know what we know that all firearms owners are not unified and there are some shooters out there who see it that way, they own just handguns or shotguns or hunting rifles and dont see a need for the rifles we own but they should smarten up and jump on the team and fight with us because first go the "Assault Weapons"then theyll say hunting rifles are "Sniper Rifles" and shot guns "Destructive Devices" and so on and so on .All shooters need to unite if we are going to beat this thing and the social utopian communist LIBERAL Agenda...Lets call it what it is....TYRANNY.

Unfortunately, there are only two choices... submit and hand them in, or fight to the death to keep them.

If you refuse to hand in your weapon(s), the "authorities" will come. They will want to take your weapon(s).

You will have to either comply or else shoot them dead. I don't see any middle ground here.

If you show them a copy of the Constitution of the United States of America, I doubt that they will turn around and leave...  :(

Some really good replies!

As for banning, the anti's know that the process should go slowly in small steps. They're in this for the long haul. At the same time they keep the propaganda machine going to lay the ground for the next round of bans. They understand that if theres no 'watershed' event then theres no clear rally pt. As long as they can prevent this then gun owners will, by and large, remain unorganized, ineffective and on the defensive.

The other problem is internal divisions. Kerry played this up by pitting hunters against AW owners. While the attempt was crude I think it was fairly effective. Get gun owners to attack other gun owners publically. It adds an air of legitimacy to the cause and the media LOVES it. Most hunters and sportsmen are ignorant enough to believe theyre untouchable.

Krupinski has it right...theres NO middle ground. Once you refuse then the choices are pretty limited: relent and go to jail (or become an informant) or fight to the death. Its a serious thing for sure. After all, who wants to be killed by the police or go to jail? Its far easier to comply and later on rationalize the choice.

Fuckin A man, I'm in, and at least we'd all prolly make the news. They can try and shoot me, jail me, but no way in hell am I handing over my only true loves, not even for what they're "worth". If it ever comes to that I'll be stocking up mags and ammo, ballistic vests, and alot of beer.

Speaking of beer, thats what we can do, fly down to TX have a HUGE kegger all get drunk and show them what our "assault weapon sniper rifle baby killing machines" can fuckin do. It's the AMERICAN way, god dammit.

Following the message threads on this board I can feel a mounting sense of panic. As a UK resident I have already experienced "loss" first hand, and can understand the feeling.

Contrary to popular belief, we are allowed to posses guns other than over and under shotguns, (I've got an AR :-)but it's hard work!
I am allowed all the nasties that are banned in the USA except the gas system. (large mags/flash hiders/sound moderators, tele stocks etc etc... but because I can only fire one round at a time (manual cocking)it is probably considered no more dangerous than a sporting rifle of the same calibre ?

For myself, I have always lusted after the black rifle, and will gladly accept it in any form.  Would you accept the neutered version as on offer here in the UK?

Good luck

There is a 3rd choice that we can make. We can pack up and move somewhere where we can live free from laws that would ban our owning firearms.  I'd be willing to bet that there's more then one person living in the Alaskan outback for this very reason.  They are free from any laws and can do just about anything that they want to do. We could also pool our money and buy an island somewhere and start our own country if we really wanted to.  There are suppose to be around 200 million gun owners in this country, if each one gave a dollar that would be $200,000,000, I'm sure we could pick up a nice size island for that amount of money. Our forefathers left a tyrannical country once before, no reason we can't do it again if it gets too bad for us here.

Disarming the populace is the first step in full government control. The Spartans did it as they moved up the Greek countryside. The Romans did it. Even recently, The Soviets and Nazis did it. You want a despotic government, then sit back and let them disarm the people. The 2nd means exactly what is says, for the obvious reasons. But I fear the the media is brainwashing the general public to accept a totalitarian state and a good and benevelent father (errr..big brother). Action speaks louder than words, so I hope there's action backing up a lot of the works I read.

What is all this talk about leaving. This is our country and we are the last of the few who still believe the Constitution was written as the foundation for which our nation was founded. A deviation of that document is a perversion of every principle for which our forefathers gave their very lives. Imagine for just one moment the shear courage it had taken those whom signed the Declaration of Independence knowing full well that  signature most certainly meant death. These men had all their wealth, their families, their very lives on the line the moment they decided that they no longer wished to live under such enslavement and tyranny. We will not leave this nation to the socialists who have destroyed Europe, Canada, and most of what was once the free world. It would be not only the gravest disgrace to our very heritage but a cowardly response that desecrates the very principles for for which this nation was founded. Let them try with effort to pass their legislation. Let them know such actions risk to wake the sleeping beast that once washed this soil red in rebellion to their kind. We will exhaust all measures of the Democratic way but any further assault on our rights shall be considered an act of a treasonous government and one that shall be dealt with accordingly.

I can't see that happening in the very near future; 10, 15, 20 years from now is a possiblity.

As the current crop of teens and twenty-somethings gets older and becomes more active and involved in politics, they'll be guided by the beliefs they grew up with.

The "zero tolerance" and "guns are evil" message
spread by educators and the media will have sunk in and that's all the next generation will know with regards to firearms.

Granted, there are still a few of gun owners out there who pass along their knowledge, experiance and respect of firearms to their children (as it was probably pased on to them).

For at least the past 10-15 years, school childrens minds have been poisoned with so much anti-gun teachings and rhetoric, that by the time they reach maturity they'll practice what they've been taught.

By then I should be well into my sixties... never fuck with a cranky old man and his gun.

It will be done the same as it was in Kali. (Weapon types banned and Grandfathered to those who own them at the time)!

Last I heard the folks in Kali. Didn’t revolt, did they?

The same will happen in other States as well, one state at a time, over time.

From some of the responses in this thread and as much as I hate to say it, the Government seems the smarter in this fight!

Kinda hard to get worked up and start the revolution when the Government is not actually taking your rifle while you’re still alive, is it?
