I recently ordered a bushy dissy with the M4 barrel.  I wanted the advantage of the full sight radius without the extra weight upfront.  I thought another advantage of having full length handguards would include having a full length gas tube, but it has the carbine length instead.  Any thoughts on this.  I'm going to email bushmaster and ask, just wanted your input first.
thanks.

Maybe you guys could answer this question.  Would there be any advantage changing the carbine length over to the full length gas tube?
thanks.

I don't think there is any real advantage.  You couldn't do the change with your barrel, though, because there would be a hole where the carbine gas block used to be.

The Bushmaster Dissipator is mighty fine as-is. Function on mine has been 100%.

Congrats on selecting the M4 profiled Dissy BTW. The alternative is one heavy mofo. [8D]

Im very satisfied with the dissy.  I was just curious to why they didn't put the full length gas tube.  I figure now that the M4 barrel  was designed for carbines and the hole for the gas tube was pre-drilled. (thanks Bradd D) I went with an ace stock, A1 upper, with A2 sights.  It's my SHTF rife and I think it's the right setup for me.
Thanks for the replys guys.

Gas holes close to the end of the barrel do not work well. The dissapator has the front site close to the end of the barrel.

because all bushmaster dissy's come with the carbine length gas tube.  DPMS and some others use the opened gas port and full length gas tube.  IMHO, you're better off with the carbine length in terms of reliability.
