I have a Colt HBAR A3 W/ a 20" barrel, I don't know what type of optics I want, the whole 20" heavy barrel kinda makes it tuff. I'm soon to be purchasing a 700 PSS for long range shooting and I'm building a M4 type AR right now. So I guess I just want this gun to be a 100-200 yard plunker.

So my question is what would you put on it? It needs to stay around 300-400 so give it your best shot.

Thanks

I'm trying to decide what scope I want for my SEBR AR-10 Carbine and the IOR Super M2 fixed 6X is on my short-list.  Round numbers about $400 with heavy duty rings.

I just put an Aetec 3.5-10X on my 16" gun. The long eye relief was the primary reason. It has great optics and a great price.

If you want more magnification, there are 100's of options in the 4-12 or 4.5-16 or 6-20 ranges.

IOR Valdada M2 with the the reticle of your choice.  I'd probably go with the CQB reticle.

Trijicon Ta31 if that means you might have to save more money and stick to the irons for now or for longer reach a Leupold 3-9x40 tactical from SWFA for about 350.00.

if you just want a plinker from 100-200+ yards, and are NOT concerned with using it in a close range defensive situation.  you might wanna look into a tasco made "super sniper" scope.  your choice of 10x, 16x, or 20x.  from SWFA.com

I think the Tasco Super Sniper in 10x would be great for the 20-inch HBAR right now and could defiantly go onto the PSS as soon as you have it. As for a scope for the just the HBAR goes, I’m hoping to do the same thing pretty quick here and use an ELCAN. I’m not necessarily after the look of the Canadian C7 but that’s what it’ll wind up being like.

I also am real partial to the low power Leupold scopes and think a 4x33 with either a No. 1 (German Post) or No. 4 (Three Post and Crosshair) reticle from Premier Reticles would be just right. Low power quick optics with a bold reticle like that will give you some long distance capeability as well as the ability to do some quick like snap shooting. The scope is a Leupold, so there’s no issue there, but the 4x33 is relatively inexpensive.

Just my .02

Trijicon ACOG. A TA31 isn't a bad choice. ACOG is the only way I'd go on that rifle.

TA-01 with ARMS 19S. I like this setup for general use and it is very lightweight.

I just put a Leupold Vari-X III 2.5-8 x 36 on my 20".  This scope has a great power range and weighs in at about 11 oz.  It's also only 11 inches long and very compact.  I just got it off the SWFA Samplelist for $350.
