Archived [ARCHIVED THREAD] - USMC serial # look-up

I was wondering who made my M16A2 I carried while in the USMC (issued in late 1986).  I found the serial number. 7 digits with no letters?
Does anyone know of a site on the net to look up numbers of a US Military M16A2 to find out who was the original manufacturer????

1) Nope, only Crane would have that data 2) All early M16A2 were made by Colt.

The manufacturer's name and logo should have been right above the serial number. I'm gonna go out ona a limb and say that it was probably made by Colt.
