Yesterday the department installed a new side by side, combo shotgun and AR rack, in my Impala. Unfortunately the Impala is somewhat of a compact car and my Bushmaster 20" A2 (my only AR) was not a compact rifle. Went by the local gunshop and (it must have been fate, destiny, superior karma!) there was a 16" A2 Bushmaster - and without any of those distracting brakes that I dislike!  Went home and gathered a few items for trade that don't see much use and, presto!, the Bushmaster is mine!! The finish is a nice even black with no noticable flaws. No purple anywhere (unlike my 20" which shows a little on the elevation knob).  Minor flash on the pistol grip which cleared away easily with a razor blade. Front sight tower strait. The inside looks as nice as the outside. Beautiful weapon! Easily the nicest Bushmaster I've looked at. Hopefully I'll get to the range tomorrow and see if it works as good as it looks!

Wish me luck!

Got to the range yesterday but only had a chance to put about 60 rounds through the gun.  The first round from the first magazine didn't chamber completely but a slap on the bottom of the magazine fixed that. Must have just been the tight new gun blues because it didn't happen again (the magazine was an old 20 round with no finish and an aluminum follower - always worked before). Took a few rounds to zero but frequently put 2 of the 3 shots into one hole at 50 yards - pretty amazing for my eyesight! All rounds after the first chambering incident were flawless. Ammunition was Winchester value pack 55gr FMJ and Winchester Q3131 5.56 .  Definitely looks like a great edition to my stable and a keeper.

Now you can put the 20"er in the trunk with a nice scope on it!! But where are you going to put the M-4 you will get later?
