Grew up around kalashnikovs and sks's.  A few days ago I traded a 70's series colt combat commander for a LNIB Colt Match HBAR.  Very clean rifle, etc etc.  At any rate,  I'm happy to be here.

Hey Strela, welcome to the best online gun club.  AR15s are a blast to shoot and "accessorize" or "customize", if you have the money I guess [:D].

Run while you can! this place will only contract the black rifle disease, and further fuel the addition...before you know it, you'll be left with a set of kick ass customized rifles, and a lighter wallet...

hehehe, j/k welcome

Sounds like we have about the same roots, I'm on my 8th(or is it 9th) AK and I've lost count at how many SKS's I've owned.   I just built my 2nd AR,(first was a CAR-15 that I sold, I could kick my self) now I've got a standard AR-A2 but I did get some up grades on it.  It's got green furniture, stainless/fluted bbl. and chrome bolt/carrier. Also, I ground off that silly bump on the pistol grip, they never put thoses things where my fingers go so it just gets in the way.   Depending on how well my AR works I may sell off my AK and build up another one.  Anyway, welcome aboard, talk at ya' later.  TN.Frank

You’re doomed.
You are doomed to hours upon hours of total satisfaction and enjoyment of the AR15/M16 Family.

Your first assignment is to go out and buy no less than Two Full Cases, each case holding 1,000 rounds of ammunition (your choice of which brand), and expend not less than one half of one case on your favorite range.
Then clean it to perfect cleanliness.
You are then challenged to stop smiling for 24 hours straight.  Having somebody kick you in your shins is cheating.

Welcome to the Addiction.[wave]
You know guys, so many people are buying are favorite noise makers here I might have to come up with a Form Letter for new shooters.
Wouldn’t that be nice.

USGI only, please.

That’ll save us from having to reply to the inevitable thread about how your new AR doesn’t work.  [:D]

Gigglesmith- Going to have to burn 500 rds min through it,  that is if my wife doesn't grab it out of my hands and shoot 500 rds with it herself!

199-USGI if I can find them,  how do the SA80 mags work out?

Everything I’ve heard about the SA80's is good.  I’ve only got one, but it seems excellent.

They are a smidgen heavier than the USGI and they will rust.  Still, being steel, I suspect they’re also a bit more rugged.

The guys over in the magazine forum are the experts, though.

Welcome to the party.  Actually, I'm fairly new to the site also, but I'll say that everything I've read seems to come without a trace of elitism or "attitude".  I've been into handguns for a long time, then I bought a Russian SKS.  Then I tricked out my Remington 1100 in a combat/self defense mode.  Then I bought a BM M17S(Bullpup), and that's when the real trouble started!  I discovered the fun of shooting the .223/5.56x45 round.  So......you know the rest.........my latest purchase was the BM 25th Anniversary Edition.....and the story continues.  Of course, adding all the goodies to my toys is at least half of the fun.  The road goes on forever, and the party never ends!!!

PS-I have several of the SA-80 mags and they're very good and priced right.  I'm going to buy some more soon.
