Just a quick question: what is the differences between 14.5" and 16" barrels, velocity/power-wise? Is there really much of a difference between the two?

Thanks!

Suggest a little www.ammo-oracle.com reading is in order for ya.....

Check out: [blue]Q. At what range will M193 fragment?  How about M855?[/blue]

In general about 30-40 fps IIRC, but the fragment range above and several other topics will be of interest to ya more than likely if your comparing the 2 barrel lengths.

Fragmentation range differences is much less the heavier bullet you use.  75-75 grain bullets in a 1-7 twist there would be little difference compared to 16 inch.  In 55/62 grain ammo, there is a much higher difference 14.5 vs 16.

Keep in mind a 14.5" 1/7 twist barrel using 77 grain Mk 262 ammo will fragment to the same ranges as a 16" 1/9 twist barrel using 55 grain M193 ammo but the Mk 262 from the 14.5" barrel will have larger wound channels at all ranges.
