I've been seeing SP-1's down in the $1000-$1200 range lately. $1600 is simply too much - in my opinion.

Given your rational, I don't think you'll be able to get your money back out of that one. Maybe if he comes down a few hundred. I'd keep looking if I were you.

My latest SP1 is costing me $7500. It comes with a scope though.[:D]

I don't think there will ever be new ARs made that are quite like the original SP1s. I would consider it a worthy buy for that reason. I'm sure there will be lightweight carbines with A1 uppers, but they will probably never be made with all the classic feature (or lack thereof) that you will find on one of those.

I saw sp1s going in the neighborhood of 1200 about a year ago, they should be cheaper now. I would not pay that much for any pre-ban colt right now.

SP1 Carbines, in original condition with staked stock, run around $1300 - $1500. There were a few for sale on the EE last week, but both owners withdrew their ads. I think $1600 is a little high, that's were most start on the EE and drop from there.

$1600 seems pretty steep, I would offer him a grand and see where he goes from there. Nothing to lose.

Love to, except I won't be taking possesion until sometime this winter! I'm coming to Gunstock unarmed, but I'll have a pre-placed cache of ammo in place by the time I get there, and have some local friendlys that are gonna let me shoot their toys. Next year though.... oh well, i tried.............im gonna get ahold of AR15USA, he lives in houston and drove all the way to my shoot in corpus christi, bringing with him a full auto m4, a full auto suppressed m16, a full auto suppressed mp5, a full auto ak, and a full auto uzi..............he guns were the highlight of the whole shoot! good guy too, shame he had to leave early and miss the BBQ! |
