I have been looking at some different rear sites options... and wondering if any of you guys can give me some ideas on some of the different models.

I am looking at three styles. Any input on this models would be great.
Models:

1.)A.R.M.S #40
2.)GG&G MAD sight
3.)GG&G A2 Flip-up BUIS

Of your list I think the best choice is the ARMS #40.  That is what I have on my M4 at the moment.  I used to have a KAC 600 and I think it was better.  Less bulky yet very robust and adjustable.  I regret lettng it go, but needed some cash at the time.

The ARMS # 40 is a very good piece and it has windage adjustments. I also use the MAD flip up and its neat because of the four different aperatures, but it doesn't have windage adj. Both are over engineered and built like a tank, and all are pretty salty. But ya gotta have 'em !!

ARMS 40 all the way.

Ive never liked the GG&G's.  The old models could be folded down inadvertently, just like Knights can.  The new models have a lock to make sure the aluminum base will sheer from a solid hit.

ARMS 40 pops up immediately, holds zero and it rock solid.

As I learned, I dont need elevation adjustments on the rear sight.  That can be done with the front sight.

I only have experience with the #40...but I don't know how the other sights could be much better.  It's a very nice piece of equipment.

#40 all the way.

I have a MAD and it is total garbage. It developed a massive crack in the base, and as a result it shifts around now. Thank god I only paid $40.00 for it.

Are you sure you don't have a Chinese MAD rip off like ASA sells? Those are made for airsoft. GGG should replace it if it's real.

I have an ARMS 40 , GGG MAD and the big DPMS sight. My ARMS sits with my Aimpoint and the GGG sits under my ACOG. The DPMS is by itself. They are all good sights. Go with the GGG if you have clearance issues.

I'm sorry yall....but I have to do this....

I hate to disagree......    but when it comes to the BUIS, the ARMS #40A is not my choice.

I'd have to go with the regular old ARMS #40. :)

I looked at the GG&G MAD, but for me it was not as quick to pick up.  I kept losing the appeture when I would shoulder the rifle.  Plus, the four ddifferent appetures are really only two.  Ghost and peep and ghost and peep.  No change in elevation..  (at least not when I was looking at them)  The GG&G A2 is cool, but it's $25 more fore some reason.  I picked up my #40 @ ADCO (advertisers on this board) for $94 + $4 S&H.

Okay, I am probably pissing in the wind but I like the GG&G![:K] However, I have both, and for the reasons most people get them, the ARMS #40A gets the nod.  Why the GG&G? It's the lowest profile of the A2 type sights.  When it is up, I know it is in it's correct position because of the detent.  It seems to me that the #40 can get mucked up with debris and not return to proper position, possibly not noticed till too late.  Now I am just blowing stinky wind.  I guess I am an accessory freak and love all the flavors.

As for you, GET THE ARMS#40A and leave the more expensive GG&G for freaks like me! [BD]

I have kept from getting a 40 because I run an ACOG on a TA51 base and thought it would not clear. But just yesterday I saw a picture of 40 under an aog on a TA51.  Can anybody else get this combo to work?

Some people say they have gotten it to barely clear...

Yes, the clearance for the ARMS #40 and ACOG on a TA51 base appears to be in the thousandths of an inch range. It is close enough that ACOGs can still be within tolerance and not fit with the ARMS #40.

Depends on what ACOG you have. I had a TA11 on a TA51 that worked well with the #40A due to the TA11s eye relief. You have to mount it a little more forward of the #40A. But now I have the #19S mount and that one clears the #40A so you can mount your ACOG where ever. If you have a full size ACOG I suggest you get the #19S.

The #40A has the full A2 aperture, no horizon cut.
