One of my AR15's (early model) uses an Edgewater buffer.  This buffer is significantly different from those in my other AR rifles and appears to be relatively fragile.  I'd like to know of other shooters' experiences using AR15s with Edgewater buffers.  Is there anything I should do to help maintain this part?

Yeah, store it in your parts box and put a current version buffer in your AR. Me, I threw mine away around 1974. Suppose I should have kept it for collector value, but back then who knew[:D]
