I live in East TN and the local range doesn't offer much besides IDPA or some sporadic tactical shotgun courses. Are there any training schools available for civilians that would offer say, urban training courses with tactical ARs or carbines? Thanks for any help.

Blackwater Training Center. I have been there for a couple of training classes and have enjoyed them thoroghly. Taught by SWAT and Spec Ops folks, they are really superb learning experiences. Accomodations are pretty good, and the whole atmosphere is great...

In Pittsburg, PA the Pennsylvania Firearms Development Corp has a couple of carbine course - BOTH are excellent.

There is also a company in KY IIRc called OPS that will run classes.

Several of the major instructors travel around the country giving classes so they might be in your neck of the woods sometime. Here is a list of several http://groups.msn.com/TheMarylandAR15ShootersSite/training.msnw

OPS SE is now Tactical Response http://www.warriormindset.com/ and is located in TN.  The company is run by James Yeager.  I have attended 3 courses with Yeager and crew when they were still OPS....Here is a review of a carbine and pistol course that I attended back to back along with some pics:

Good training at a great price.  These are the same folks that Forest was refering to.

While very military/LEO oriented (and not cheap!), you might also want to check out Mid-South Institute – www.weaponstraining.com/.
