Are you talking about the USMC M16A4?  It is 20" barrel and A2 stock with a removable carry handle.  Many of them also use a full rail instead of typical handguards.  I don't have any pics of them right now, but it that what you mean?  The M4 upper you mention is confusing me.

I just built one with a SUM barrel, I like it, but I also liked my issue A2 so it may just be the memories.

I've seen pics of M16s with the following features:

- A2 stock
- flattop
- carbine length handguards or RAS
- What looks like an 18" barrel

Is this what you mean? If so a postban civie carbine would be really close (16" barrel)

1ar,

I want to do something similar to what you’re talking about but I’m just going to use a Colt Model 6700, get the barrel free floated with a Compass Lake tube and use an ELCAN. I shot a rifle just like this about two years ago and the thing was great, little hefty but you couldn’t do wrong with it. I like the ELCAN, there doesn’t seem to be too much discussion about them but I think they’re a great scope.

Best Regards, J

I’ve seen other pics of rifles similar to this but failed to put it together with Canada, thanks for the info.

Regardless of what it is though, that is basically what I’d like to have.

Shouldn’t a C7 have a bayonet lug?

Here's my attempt. Not exact, considering my budget, but pretty close. It shoots very well and is pretty lightwieght and easy to handle.

Okay, I basically had to purchase the upper because the lower was something I already had, and I had the A2 stock laying around.

I purchased a barrel assembly from Bushmaster.

A2 20" government profile (thin under handguards) 1/7 twist. $210.00.

I got a FIRST/SAMCO M44L 4-rail handguard for $105.00. With 3 used 11-rib KAC panels for $40.00.

If you wanted to go totally original, an M5 RAS will set you back about $350.00

Flattop upper from Delton with T markings was $95.00 shipped.

I got the AAC vertical foregrip for $30.00.
The original KAC will cost $60.00.

I got the ACOG TAO1 used from the EE for $450 with flattop adaptor.

I believe the Marines have the TA31-F and it would set you back about $900-1000 new, I think.

I already had the bolt and charging handle so the total to upgrade my preban lower to this config was. $930.00

It would have cost me $1615 if I would have used the knights parts and TA31 ACOG.

This set up is quickly becoming one of my favorites.

Does anyone know what sling the USMC uses for the M16A4??
