What the deal with the large hole Colt uppers, even with a adapter I still have a 1/8" gap between my upper and lower. I tried everything including the useless accu-wedge and nothing can close the gap. I went through 2 offset pins and nothing works.

MY next option is to have an AR 'smith weld the front pin on the upper closed and machine a small hole in its place. Is this a:

Good idea or..... bad idea?

Damn it Colt, whay do you have to be so difficult.

Yeah, It was the last one I tried and came the closest as far as tightness is concerned, but I still had the gap, just not as bad as when I used the other offset sleeves.

For the hell of it I broke out the calipers and reciever blueprints and everything is in spec.
