What would you carry?
What caliber? What model 1911? |
|
HK of course...
P7M13 or USP tactical or USP9. depends on my mood. |
|
What you carry I think is a lot of personal prefrence. I know myself I would and for ISPC and 3 gun I carry a Glock 35 Tactical. I found it's a great gun. After a hard 3 days 3 gun match it still keeps on firing. I also love that they put on the extended slide release, and mag release. It's all in the Tupperware guns.

I love my Para-Ordnance and the Sig 220 is a fantastic pistol, but I would stake my life on the plastic gun*. Glocks are simple and rugged, and my 23 has gone boom every time I've pulled the trigger.
*This is of course assuming a large supply of factory ammo to avoid the not-so-fabled KB. [;)] |

I had to chime in for the SIG
I love my 226, plus, it just looks good next to an AR! |
|
Summer Glock 36
Winter Wilson 1911 unless I feel like carrying my P7 if Del Fatti ever finishes my P7 rig. |

Get the Olympic Arms 9mm kit set up for Glock magazines then carry a glock and get some Glock factory 33rnd 9mm mags.

I love my 1911, but the Beretta is the soul mate of the AR.
They both: - are current issue weapons - use aluminum frames/receivers - use plastic stocks/furniture - replaced weapons that used steel and wood - are high capacity/small caliber weapons that replaced low capacity/large caliber weapons. - have chrome lined barrels - had a great deal of controversy surrounding their adoption - have had reliability issues that were traced to incorrect ammo - have, as a result of controversy and reliability issues, been surrounded by a cloud of FUD for years. |

Quoted: Delta uses modified 1911's. Anyone know what make? View Quote Well, the last time I was out shooting with them.... |
|
HK USP in .45 of course! Second choice would be a Springfield TRP simply because I don't have that kinda $ to spend on a pistol!
|
|
hands down.. a 1911 in 45acp. can't beat a gun that's survived all of America's "modern" wars and keeps on ticking

David Hindeline-It is a cool idea to have the same ammo for your pistol and carbine, even cooler to have the same magazines. I was in love with this idea for a long time.I got over it. Pistol calibers out of a rifle leave a little to be desired. Read:"Lame."
The truth, however, is to be good with a rifle(.223,.308), and have a back-up sidearm that you are "comfortable with". |

I would have to go with a 1911. I have loved the few Kimbers I have shot. What about the ruger pistols? I'm no expert pistol shooter, but I have had good experience our P95. The ruger pistols are rugged, simple, and strong. They also are about half the price of the beretta or the glocks. The only problem with them is they look to plain. They just arn't as flashy as the beretta and the glocks.

Just USP 45, not USP 45c or USP 45 Tactical, just plain ole USP 45. With XS 24/7 sites.

M9 marked Berretta goes with the Colt.

HK USP Tac. Great gun. 1k rounds and exactly 0.0 malfunctions of any kind. Accurate as hell (more than me or my eyes). I am happy w/ it, but still, I could have bought a really good Kimber for less, and the 1911 rules. I do like the ability to work the slide w/ the saftey on, but it is like Jeff Cooper said, the double action pistol is a solution to a non-problem. Single action hammer fired pistols rule, especially when they have lots of parts and stuff, kind of like the AR, but I'm still keeping my HK
BTW, not to start a flame war, but glocks suck in two ways (not totally): Their crazy wierd action system, I am telling you that a hair single action trigger (for the disciplined shooter) rules, and secondly for their weird grip angle! They are like the only friggig co no using the same basic angle as the 1911, and I'll never own one just b/c I don't want to relearn. Also, the sigs have weird controls. Also, 9mm sucks. Just b/c the AR works good w/ hicapicity/small bore, doesn't mean that pistols are good cause of it. AR's wound by velocity and fragmenting, pistols wound from single deep penetrating wound holes that bleed out. Conclusion, w/ pistols, bigger hole is better. And for that matter, sell you stupid 9mm upper and your Beretta and get a 45 upper. If you need more than 7 or 10 shots all at once you are dead anyway. If you want a LW pistol and double stack, get a USP 45 or a Wilson KZ, or mayby one of those Kimber polymers. The only real advantage I see to havin a 9mm is in case the SHTF and it is the only type of ammo you can get (like off of dead UN troopers [;D]). |

SIG SAUER P226 9mm
or Kimber Custom II 1911 .45. Would'nt feel under gunned with either. |
|
Depends.
Springfield 1911 and an H&K USP 45 handle everything for me. Which one would depend on the situation/terrain, etc. My USP 45 could be used in ANY situation, and is my #1 go to SHTF sidearm. If I had to operate in the woods and swamps of FL, my USP gets the nod hands down. In a more Urban environment, the 1911 would go nicely as well. Overall though, I guess my USP 45 gets top billing. |

HK USP .45 Tactical, What else is there? dont they just look pretty next to each other.

A second AR ;)
No, seriously....If I was getting something to complement my AR it'd be a Sig 220 in 45 ACP. Also aluminum framed, similar color, and a small number of big, slow rounds. If I had an SP1, I'd want to match it with a plain, parkerized 1911. |
|
SIG!
I prefer any SIG, but as a general sidearm the 228 or 226 would do! I carry a 239 in the cold months due to its concealability. B9 |

I'm torn here. My two favorite handguns are a 1911 and an HK P7.
|
|
In the old days, a Colt 1911 would do...
Nowaday, and with ammo availability in battle, a Walther P99. |

1911, especially if I could pack as many magazines as Benicio Del Toro in "Way of the Gun" [;)]
