Got the upper the other day.  If you have one what are you using for sights - iron or glass of some sort.  I've got an aimpoint I thought I'd try out.  Been trying to get brass and dies but anyone who handles this all say the same thing "on back order"  any ideas?

Jeff - hadn't heard, but I guess this means the upper arrived.  I presume all is to satisfaction?

Well back on topic.  [:)] I use a Red dot scope on mine.  Let me know if you need brass and such.  I ordered Dies and you can have them if you want (you just pay the actual cost when they get it if they arent there already.  My dealer can get brass if needed.  I shoot with a Red dot and it rocks.  Isn't .50 bigger than .458??  [nana] [nuts]  [lol]

just kidding uys, I know there has been a lot of info and work that has gone into the .458, and when I have time I will read about it so I can actually know the strengths and weaknesses of BOTH cartridges.

you will love the Beowolf inside 200 yds. Most of us in this area use the Aimpoint ML, make sure you use the Aimpoint QRP mount as it has the widest rail bar and has held zero over a year on 5 different rifles. We all prefer the 325 or 334 gr bullets for recoil and trajectory, the 400 flat out hurts and is a rock past 100yds. Excellent all weather deer rifle. Enjoy.

Ok.. i recently posted "the big ar's" and i got no response.. anyway.. I saw you guys talkin about this .458 on this post and frankly the cost over all is much more for the .458 and it is smaller than the .50 beowulf..
so what the deal here.. in yalls opinion if i want a BIG AR what do i buy?

800, How long has your order been?  I've ordered through Impactguns.com however they told me that everything regarding the Beo was on interglatic-backorder.  I was able to find the upper at a local store for $600 plus two boxes ammo that was marked at $21 - walked out the store $640 total.  Now I need the brass and dies.  BTW what lee shell holder does this puppy use?

I might be interested in the dies and brass.  Please keep me informed.

I use a EoTech 511 on my .50 Beowulf upper.  It works very well for me.

Also, I've got an unfired Beowulf upper for sale in the EE if anyone is interested.

Oilman:  Yes, I know the holder is included - just interested in knowing the # in advance.

ILove2Shoot:  I emailed AlexanderArms and got a response from them yesterday saying they have plenty of dies and brass in stock.  They also said that they would contact the store to find out what the problem is.

So far nothing but excellant service from AlexanderArms on all the questions I've asked.  Just too bad no direct sales!

One other question to those who've loaded the Beo.  Any idea of the life of the brass?  5 - 10 reloadings?  More?  I fully understand that the hotter the load the less the life.  I've reloaded from .17 Rem to 45-70 and don't like to push too much.  Again just wondering.

AZBIGKID - The order process has been slow with my dealer as well, but everything seems to take about a month to get in.  My dealer just ordered some brakes too, so they shoul dbe in soon.  I ordered the dies a month and a half ago and have not been back there since.  (I am going there today at lunch time)  Yeah I got a little to snuggly with my red dot too and was kissed ocross the bridge of my nose ONCE.(That was all it took)  It only kissed it too and it gave me a nice little gash for a coupl eof week.ssI was in a wedding the next week and my wife siad she would have skinned me alive if I had broken my nose before her sisters wedding.  hee hee, lucky for me it was only a kiss.

The .50 Beowulf is relatively low pressure, I am not sure how many loadings you will get but 5-10 is not unreasonable at all.

BTW I use an Aimpoint ML2 on mine

I have a 458 SOCOM upper and use an Aimpoint CompM2 on it.  I used an EoTech 551 on it before that, but liked the Aimpoint better for this application.  Personal preference.

As far as 458 vs Beowulf:

I can load a 500 or 600gr subsonic load in the 458...[nana]

Projectiles are also available easily at any source that carries 45-70 or 458 Win projectiles.

Dies are available from CH4D currently and from Lee in a couple weeks.

Brass will be stocked at Starline in about 8 weeks - in 250, 500 and 1000 quantities.

Ammo is available loaded from Corbon currently, and in the forseeable future.

[b]I thought Cabela's had all Beowulf stuff in stock???[/b]

When I was searching for this unit I found that Bill Alexander would deal with a retail customer if you had exhausted all avenues of research to find your stuff from his dealers.

HTH....

800Mtrs: Per Mark Worthington (CEO Alexander Arms) you need to go through Cabell's Special Order Department to order the brass, dies, and bullets.  They regulary stock the upper and ammo without any major problems.

Oilman: Thanks for the answer!
