I've been blessed with this site and some good bud's who've shown me what is functional and what is not.
I don't think I have on thing on my AR that is not functional or that I would change. |

By far, it is the pistol grip butt plug, followed closely by an accu-wedge. The first does not work, the second is un-needed.

Now replaced by a copy of a Giles sling, big improvement. |

The first AR I bought was a Bushmaster and it was a nice rifle so I figured Bushmaster wouldn't be selling any junky shit; like crappy mags and stuff.
So I ended up with a couple crappy mags and some other junky stuff. I quit buying Bushmaster rifles because of that. |

Another vote for the AccuWigit.
Ordered the darn thing at the same time I Ordered my Rock River Upper. The upper and Lower Rock Rivers fit together so tight that there was never a need for the Accuwedge. I threw it over my shoulder and I think its hidden away in a desk drawer somewhere. Luckily it was pretty cheap as AR goofs go. |

Those plastic colored front sights. After about 20 rounds the melt and pop out, no wonder I wasn't hitting the target!

In all fairness, I had a DPMS "butt plug". It looked like a great idea in the workshop. On the range it was a different story. It kept falling out (and its contents) while firing. DPMS sent me a mil-spec pistol grip because they felt I had a non-milspec pistol grip.
I received the pistol grip, installed it, same problem. I am now convinced that you could not keep a cotton ball secure in a pistol grip "butt plug". In other words, it "DOES NOT HOLD UP UNDER FIELD CONDITIONS". p.s. It is very embarr-assing to have shit fall off your rifle while you are shooting it. Bob |

in the brief year that i've been an AR owner there are unfortunately too many....
accuwedge was first (i trimmed 80% off and it still wouldn't fit in lower...and the upper was loose!). my first AR....although the lower continues to serve me well everything else has been replaced... "rubber armored" 3-9x scope...it works and seemed to hold zero but is too hokey. redi-mag i got in a trade. it worked but i hated it... probably way more....like the 11 Orlites that i got for like $80 shipped (have never, ever even tested one...have plenty of USGI's but i can't resist a deal!) edited cuz it wasn't a "rubber armoreR" scope.... |

Been lucky, I read most of the post here about equipment and learn from others mistakes. Someone gave me some USA thirty rounders, I gave them away to a target shooter who did not use the rifle for self defense. Maybe the two all metal telescopic buttstocks and the SS upgrade bbls, I thought they were better than chrome lined. This is the big reason I bought Oly or BM. Boy was I wrong.

My knee jerk reaction answer was bayonet also. Then I got to thinking about it, and somehow, it does make me feel good that Charles Schumer is pissed off about me having that (even thought he has no conception of why - other than votes).
So I changed my mind. I don't like the center mount slings though. Even on an ACE equipped VMatch Carbine, I just prefer the old fashioned ones. I know most of you guys love them - and more power to you. They just don't trip my trigger? |

I also bought a Grip Plug from Bushmaster and found that it was way to loose in my Rock River pistol grip. However the fix for the "butt Plug" is really pretty easy, all you need to do is pick up a couple of 3/4 inch long 3/8ths sheetmetal screws from the hardware store and sink them into the top (inside) base of the "butt plug", this expands the rubber of the plug like a rubber automotive freeze plug and makes for a much tighter fit
This cost me a whole wopping .25 cents, but it could cost you less if you happen to have a couple of wood or sheetmetal screw just laying around in a drawer somewhere Takes about two minutes and "butt plug" problem solved. |

Been there, tried that. it still fell out after a while. With the pistol grip not designed for the product it is a waste of time. Now, if you could have a groove milled inside the handle then it might be acceptable. I guess I finally decided that i could not trust it. If I could not trust it then I couldn't store anything I might need in it, therefor it was worthless to me as I try to not carry things I will not need. Glad it worked out for you, Bob |

....have to say a stupid laser pointer I got from Ebay for $40-something bucks, the recoil of the gun turns the laser off and you need to adjust it everytime you want to go out with it..I use it more for pointing it around the house with the lights off then actually shooting with it.

I agree with IronBalaclava the damn Badger Ordnance Tactical latch it will cause serious injury , I can see an operator in full body armor may not notice it.Yhrow it over your shoulder once and have that extended latch followed by 9 pounds of momentum gouge into your unprotected shoulder blade or ribs and you will be very aware of it afterwards , actually that should be the instructions !
