If you where to buy another rifle what would you get. I don't want to hear about the G36 because you can't get it.
|
|
I vote AK (prefereably 5.56) b/c of value and fun factor. 5.56 AKs are much more accurate and therefore much more fun to shoot! The HK or the AUG would get my vote if money were not a factor. I am starting to cry just thinking about how much a good set of mags would run you for the AUG and HK.
|
|
You mean if all I owned was an AR15, what rifle would I get next out of the list above? I guess a .308 and probably an FAL because mags are easier to get than a M1a
|
|
M14/M1A, it's the only American option up there! Actually I've been considering an AK style, but everytime I look at one close-up it cures my desire.
|
|
AK's for sure!
While they're not nearly as refined or accurate as the AR weapons system, they're rugged, inexpensive to buy and shoot, and hi caps are cheap and plentiful. $300 for a rifle / $25 for three 30 round mags / $85 for 1,000 rounds = $410 for a ready-to-rock kit. You're not going to be shooting tight groups at 300 yards, but for close in blasting the AK sytem is excellent. |
|
I can get the G36.......
[;D] But I was always more fond of USGI firearms, so M14 it is |
|
Robinson Recon Carbine, and since that is not on the list I'd say an FAL.

Guess somebody imported a boatload in the last 10 years. Nice HK91 clones are on the market for $800. AUG mags in still in orbit. Funny considering how many AUG rifles there are in country... since they're imported there's no end to the AUG drought in sight. |

You're right...I have seen the G3 mags cheap as hell, but thge AUG mags I've seen are a diff. story... |

My pick goes to the M14, but if I had no other weapons, I would choose a Very Hard Hitting bolt action.
|
|
If the SHTF and I'm tasked to save western civilisation, count me in with my M1A.The mouse gun just doesn't have the punch of a 308.My 3 AR's are fun to shoot but I want something with more knockdown.Flame suit on,I can hear the incoming!!

I already have 2 FALs and 4 ARs, so I would
probably say more of each, or ammo, or mags for each, or well the list goes on and on....... |

M1A/M14
You just can't hit a man sized target at 1000 meters with an AK. |

Quoted: Robinson Recon Carbine, and since that is not on the list I'd say an FAL. View Quote Ditto for me, although I think I'd go with an SA M1A Scout over the FAL, but it would be CLOSE behind the M1A. M96 Recon M1A Scout/AR10 carbine FAL In that order. edited to add, the AR10 carbine is still drawing me hard. I plan to have 1 .308 and it will be either the M1A Scout or the AR10 Car. |

Zoom in, estimate size via mil-dot, estimate drop via mil-dot, estimate lead by mil-dot. Then gently squeeze...... ...nothing but chuncks! |

Quoted: I want a SIG 551. View Quote Ditto. Or a 552. Since my pockets won't be able to scratch that itch for a few years....DSA STG-58 FAL it is. |

Of the choices available it is a toss-up between the FAL and the M1A, but the nod goes eventually to the M1A, better sights, better trigger, more accurate, almost as reliable. All we have to do is ignore the cost of the magazines for the moment.
The FAL has better ergonomics, however, but the M1A is not that bad anyway (much better than, say, an AK). |

I pick my Styer Aug A1. It is one great gun. Then the 552. (if I had the money)

If the shtf would ever go down. Listen from my own personal experience with different caliber weapon systems during the persian gulf war. I saw two iraq's take 6 hits from 5.56 rds and keep trucking. Finally when they experied 500 yds later down the road. Only 1 rd penetrated plain old clothing and desert sarong. 5.56 mm no way other than head shot everytime. But must likely someone will be wearing kevlar anyway.
Now the good old 7.62. One shot , one kill, two kills if persons close enough. My choice hands down. 50 bmg - He was there a minute ago |

I have been urning for an HK of any type for some time now. I think that an HK 33 would fit quite nicly into my collection.

Two Iraqies, 6 shots and only ONE ROUND penetrated clothing and BOTH go down 500 yds later? Maybe the one guy was the only one hit by one bullet and the other guy just fell from exhaustion? M1A is on the short list for me. |

I’ll take the M14 in Select-Fire if possible. Having shot the Pure Semi M1A1 and the FAL, I’ll take the M14 almost any day.
I like my M16. And IF I have to have another choice, it would Have to be the M14. Having shot it that one time at the range, I was impressed with how accurate I shot it at 400 yards, never shooting the M14 style rifle before. And besides, the M14 is free of Shrikes at the moment. |
|
I love the M14 great lines, reliability and looks and even if mags were cheaper Id have to go with the FAL more have been made than the 14 and still being made,so there is a better support system for the rifle Id have one with the bolt sand cuts, inch pattern L1A1,plus ease of maintenence, opens up like an AR.

Not good for long range and not on the list, but for SHTF in a CQB arena, I would have to go with the FN P90.

Range sucks. stopping power sucks. ammo availability sucks. Only thing it has going for it is that it was in the N64 goldeneye game. lol... |

I went with the FAL. Mag and parts price & availability were deciding factors.
|

FAL
because i just got my first AR and cause i have an imbel parts kit under my bed right now!! i have to get it finished soon... |

M1A
If they weren't $1100+ I'd have another one. There's something about iron, and walnut, and that 'classic' American look that nothing else can replace. |
|
Actually, my M1A is my first choice with the AR coming in a close second.
I've had a HK91, a couple of different AK's, and a SKS. They were alright, but I've found myself gravitating back towards American-made firearms in the past couple of years. The only exception would be pistols. I'm a die-hard SIG-Sauer fan. I've tried virtually every other kind of pistol out there, but I haven't found any that I like better than my SIGs... |
|
HK33, cause I have a heap of AKs (but never enough) and FALs, and roller locks are cool.
