I have a 16" Eagle Arms preban barrel that is threaded and has an A1 flash suppressor attached.

Now I've shot about 600-700 rounds through this barrel and there is a significant ammount of carbon buildup at the crown. Enough that I thought the muzzle was shot to pieces some how, but it's just carbon. Is this normal?

Should I try to remove it or just leave it?

Yep, that's pretty normal, and the stuff gets as hard as concrete, too. While still in the Army, I'd resorted to using a flat-tip eyeglass screwdriver to chisel the crap off. Just had to be very careful not to mess up the rifling.
