Would it be better to use a Small drill Bit or a Punch?

I don't want to danage the Finish of the gun?

i dont believe ya can punch it out, i think ya gotta dremal it, not sure, kinda wondered myself.

Just punched a rivet out this afternoon on an upper I picked up in trade...

I used a 3/32 drift punch and one firm rap... if the front sling is mounted with a roll pin it's even easier...

The first front sling rivet I removed I used a drill bit in a dremel... the barrel and the FSB still show the scars of that learning experience... [;)]

Just drive it off. I have even been able to transplant the loop re-using the rivet.

I don't want to damage the finish?
